Questions
The answers below match what the site actually does today. Where something is not built, the answer says so rather than describing an intention.
What is Sound Competition?
A head-to-head ranking site for music. Two tracks from a curated pool are put against each other, you pick one, and both Elo ratings move. The ranking board is the result of those votes and nothing else.
Can I hear the tracks?
Not yet. No audio is hosted, so the entries are text records — title, artist name, division and rating. The audio layer is not built, and a play button that does nothing would be worse than saying so.
How is a pair chosen?
Active tracks are sorted by rating and a random adjacent pair is served, so the two sides are as close in rating as the pool allows. Pairing is not by genre unless you pick a division, in which case the same rule runs inside that genre.
What do the numbers mean?
They are Elo ratings. Every track enters at 1500. A result moves the winner up and the loser down by the same amount, sized by how unexpected the result was, with a K-factor of 32 and a floor of 100. Tier is just a name for a rating band.
Can someone vote twice?
Yes, and this is worth stating plainly: there is no per-person deduplication yet. Voting is open with no account, and the only guard today is a rate limit on the voting address. Read the board as a rough signal, not as a poll.
Can I enter a track?
Not through a form on this site. There is no uploader, no rights-warranty signature step and no moderation queue. The submit page explains the manual route and what it does not promise.
Does it cost anything?
No. Voting is free, needs no account and there is nothing to buy here.
